Isabelle Fournier Awarded the Raymond Rosen Prize by the Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale

On December 8, Isabelle Fournier was awarded the Raymond Rosen Prize by the Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale (FRM) for her project entitled “An innovative technology to guide cancer surgery”. This prestigious award recognizes internationally renowned scientists for the impact of their research or their commitment to advancing scientific knowledge.

Isabelle Fournier is Professor of Bioanalytical Chemistry at the University of Lille and Co-Director of the PRISM Laboratory (Proteomics, Inflammatory Response, Mass Spectrometry – Inserm U1192 / Inserm Nord Ouest / Lille University Hospital / University of Lille).

With her research group, she develops innovative technologies for applications in oncology. In particular, she has pioneered SpiderMass, a cutting-edge device that uses a laser beam to collect micro-samples during cancer surgery and performs real-time molecular analysis of tissues. By distinguishing tumor cells from healthy cells, SpiderMass assists surgeons in precisely removing tumors, enabling more accurate surgical interventions and faster diagnoses.

The Raymond Rosen Prize, was established through a legacy from Jeanne Rosen in memory of her husband. It supports researchers whose work in fundamental or translational research is focused on cancer and its treatment.

The SpiderMass technology is currently being evaluated across different cancer types and is also being miniaturized for future applications in endoscopy, opening new perspectives for real-time, minimally invasive cancer diagnostics.
