Yves-Marie Robin

Dr Robin became attracted to medicine after he graduated from Vassar College, a school in which he learned intellectual rigor and where he was confronted with the great challenge that medical achievement represented in an ever changing society whose needs are to be continually met. He has had the opportunity to compare medical practices in North America and Europe, their differences as well as their common dedication to the betterment of their populations’ health and well being. He saw in the field of pathology the opportunitiy to be most useful and decided to specialize in that field. From then on, onco-pathology became the mainstay of his professional activity.
In 2006 he was appointed chief of staff of the department of Morphological and Molecular Pathology Unit, which is the anatomic pathology and cytology laboratory at the Oscar Lambret Cancer Center, Lille, (France), one of the twenty anti-cancer institutions in France.
Dr Robin is a member of the French Sarcoma Group which is known for its expertise and research accomplishments in the field of soft tissue tumors. He has published or collaborated on a number of articles in different areas, but mainly in sarcoma pathology.
Dr Robin is a research member of the Mass Spectrometry INSERM laboratory (PRISM) at Villeneuve d’Ascq (France) under the supervision of Pr Michel Salzet. In 2019 he has been appointed head of the biology-pathology-genetic wing at Oscar Lambret Center whose main objective is to set standards of laboratory practice in pathology and molecular oncology adapted to clinical needs and translational research. Dr Robin’s main interests are in precision medicine, oncogenic processes, drivers and treatment resistance, the developpment of novel diagnostic techniques in molecular genetics (fusion transcripts, gene rearrangements), and multi-omics analysis including proteo-genomics as well as lipodomics and metabolomics and how they apply in particular to soft tissue tumors.
