Abstract
A conjugate A–X–B in which A is a peptide tag of known molecular weight, X a linker cleaved during sample desorption/ionisation — in practice a UV-photocleavable linker — and B an antibody binding specifically to the target.
Imaging the released tag instead of the target itself turns MALDI imaging into a targeted and multiplexable readout. The patent also claims the method for mapping a target peptide, protein, antigen or hapten in a tissue section.

Context
The Tag-Mass concept, published as Lemaire et al., Tag-mass: specific molecular imaging of transcriptome and proteome by mass spectrometry based on photocleavable tag. Twenty years later the same idea is being re-filed with modern chemistry in WO 2025/242912 and WO 2025/242913. Co-filed with Eurogentec, which synthesised the conjugates.
Abstract as published
The invention concerns a conjugate of formula A-X-B, wherein A is a peptide tag molecule of known molecular weight, X is a linker that is cleaved during sample desorption/ionization, and B is an antibody that binds specifically to said target molecule. The invention also relates to a method for determining at least one target peptide, protein, antigen or hapten map in a tissue section, comprising the use of the conjugate.
