Julie Defrance is a study engineer in bioinformatics at the PRISM laboratory (INSERM U1192), University of Lille, which she has joined in 2025 after completing her Masters 2 internship in the laboratory. During her internship, she worked on Single-Cell Mass Spectrometry Imaging and helped to develop a simple protocol from the experimental to the bioinformatics analysis.

As a study engineer, her role is to explore multi-OMICS data in the context of cancer, by creating pipelines using Machine Learning to deepen and facilitate the research in this domain, working closely with the researchers who generate the data and use the pipelines. Her work mainly focuses on projects concerning the Ghost Proteome and Immunopeptidomics, such as the DARVAC project.

She is passionate about the creation of pipelines and softwares to explore biologic data, the study of unconventional translational and traductional mechanisms to understand the origins of Alternative Proteins, and the research of neoantigens.
