Abstract

Liquid ionic matrices for MALDI mass spectrometry imaging of tissue sections. The matrices combine 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid with an organic base; the liquid matrix wets the section homogeneously and limits the delocalisation of analytes during deposition, which improves the detection and the localisation of species such as lipids.

Context

Follows the solid ionic matrices of US 2008/0203289: from a solid salt to a liquid matrix, and from proteins to lipids.

Abstract as published

Liquid ionic matrices for MALDI Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MALDI-MSI) of tissue sections and their use for the detection and localization of analytes such as lipids. The matrices comprise 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid and an organic base so as to reduce delocalization of analytes.
